[Japan] Sexy Soul Calibur V ads cut the bullshit

Sex sells. This knowledge is probably as old as humanity itself and has always provided advertisers with a simple way to make their product seem more appealing. Sometimes subtle - sometimes less so.

Now when it comes to gaming, the best place to be looking for scantily clad babes are fighting games. It only makes sense therefore for the publishers to push their female fighters out into the spotlight to attract gamers and get them to buy their latest sequel. For the Soul Calibur series, this position was always filled by Ivy.

For the 5th installment in this classic fighting franchise, Namco-Bandai has now decided to screw subtlety and go straight for the bouncy goods. Take a look at these two ads from a Japanese magazine to see what I'm talking about:

And as if the images itself weren't blatant enough, get a load of the captions. The one on the left says "The biggest masterpiece of the series." If you look closely, you'll notice that the first two characters each have a dot over it - read them together and you get "shiri", which is the Japanese word for...well, ass. The second one isn't much better: "On this New Year, my breast swells with hope." Yeah...not just with hope I bet.
