I enjoyed this game very much so that I reviewed it myself and said everyone that owns a 3DS needs to play this game at least once. I still stand by that and I will say a 9/10...that pretty much hits the spot perfectly.

Super Mario 3D Land was a good game. It was perfect for handheld consoles. Short, sweet, simple. The only thing that I had to restart a level for was for collecting the Star Coins. I like the 3DS, but Super Mario 3D Land does not make the 3DS. I'm waiting for Kid Icarus: Uprising and, god forbid, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. Should anything else spark interest along the way, I'll check them out as well.

Imo, the game was great fun, and an awesome introduction for the 3DS (I got the game and the console at the same time), one main problem though is that they have a lot of new enemies, but then neglect to use them, instead focusing on tanooki versions of old enemies; which is cool, but gets samey. for example, on this page's image: angry coin block enemy. This appears about 3 times in the entire game.

Why is the Tanooki power up in a mario game with a 3 in it

When I tried the game at a Nintendo event, I actually enjoyed the game more then New Super Mario bros. Personally I didn't enjoy the New Super Mario Bro's though, but maybe that's because i played alone and it deserves to be played with multiple friends. I'm glad to hear Super Mario 3D Land gets way better after the main game.

I was also pretty disappointed in the beginning,but later on I really liked it.

Craig, Luigi is there for faster acceleration and longer slide. He plays more like Mario 1.

The second time around is more challenging but damnit, it's the second time around! I might as well have turned the game off as it was so slow at first. The fact that it gets better LATER is not a redeeming factor in my opinion. Not a bad game at all (and certainly not a bad review, guys) but I rather have the challenge there right from the start and have the game a little bit faster. It is indeed a slow game. 7/10

I actually didn't like the game that much. I felt that the 3D was underwhelming, if relaxing, and the game ran slow (30 fps). The first half was way too easy (I racked up some 150 lives) and the second half relied on the cheap tricks of games from way back in the day. It wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't as great as it could have been, because the nostalgia factor was used in the wrong places.

Maybe soon somewhere in the future Craig will learn how to say the name of the game correctly.

Great review! The second part of the game is very challenging and makes playing through the whole thing worth it, its the best part of the game.

I'd like a game with some actual mario land elements. Like exploding turtles, bouncing fireballs, the carrot,, maybe wario as the villian again? Although there is a chance they have them.

100% the game within 5 days. im not saying this to show off, just to show how hard it was to put the game down! you know its going to be fun just because its mario, but i got a lot more then i expected!
