It might work if the Kinect actually had to track a physical lightsaber shaped object. Does it have to? Use a chuck in one hand to move your character around. In your other hand you hold a plastic lightsaber with visual reference points for the Kinect to track with maximum accuracy. Just be careful not the break everything around you while swinging it around like a lunatic.
